How do I add creditors to my Direct Pay loan?

4 min read

Adding creditors to your Direct Pay loan application is easy. Just follow these steps to get set up:

  1. When choosing a loan offer online or in the app, select the Direct Pay Discount, then Continue to Direct Pay Setup.

  2. Select Continue to pre-fill creditors from your credit profile or Add Creditors Manually to opt-out and fill in your creditors yourself.

If you opt into pre-fill:

  1. Enter the code sent to the phone you listed on your application, then select Continue.

  2. Review the creditors that appear, then enter the balance amount you wish to pay off.

Note: If you see an account listed that shows Verify Card, you will need to enter the card details to add it for Direct Pay. If you don’t want to pay off a listed creditor, simply leave the amount blank. You can add any qualified accounts that don’t pre-fill by selecting Add Account. (Please note that you can’t add student loans, mortgages, business loans, or other Happen Bank personal loans for Direct Pay.)

  3. If you prefer to manually add your creditors, select Add Account.

  4. Select Credit Card or Loan Account.

  5. Enter the card number or loan information, then select Add Account.

  6. Enter the amount you’d like to pay.

Note: If more than one creditor has the same name, pick the one that’s closest to the information on your last statement. If your creditor isn’t on the list, see the instructions below.

  7. Adjust the payment amounts to each creditor until you meet your minimum amount (or up to the maximum amount). You can see your progress under Total Direct Pay at the bottom of the screen.

  8. After you’ve added all the creditors you want to pay, select Continue to Review.

  9. Double-check your list and make changes, if needed. You won't be able to change things after the next step.

  10. When everything is accurate, select Continue.

After you’ve confirmed your list, we’ll start reviewing it. You can’t change your list, so be sure to double-check it before selecting Continue.

If your application gets approved, it takes several days to have money sent to your creditors. Keep making your regular payments until the creditor confirms you paid down your debt.

If your creditor isn't on the list

Sometimes bank credit cards are listed under names that don’t match the front of the card. If you can’t find the name of your credit card on the list, check the back of your card or a recent statement for the issuer name.

Here’s a list of common bank cards and their issuer names:

Card name

Potential credit card name in the payment network

Bank of America

MBNA Credit Card, Bank of America, Bank of America Visa 1

BankAmericard

Barclaycard

Barclays Bank Delaware

Capital One Quicksilver

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union Visa, Navy Federal Credit Union

Synchrony Bank

GE Capital / GE Money Bank

If your creditor still doesn’t show up on the list, they might not be in our payment network. Balances for creditors outside the payment network will not be counted towards the minimum Direct Pay amount needed to qualify for a Direct Pay discount. For these types of creditors, you can pay directly with your linked bank account using the cash portion of the loan once the funds have been issued. We are always improving our payment network and may include your creditor in the future.

Airline, retail, and reward cards

If you’re adding a credit card to your list of creditors, the front of your card might not match any of the names listed. The list might show some cards by the issuer name, not the name of the program. You can typically find the issuer on the back of your card or your billing statement.

Here’s a list of common rewards cards and the name of their issuer:

"Bad credit" is a range, not a verdict. A borrower with a credit score of 620 has meaningfully different options than one with a credit score of 520 – and a personal loan from a bank can still be an option for many borrowers in the fair credit range (580–669). Before you decide anything, check your rate in seconds with no impact to your credit score.1,4 If you're not yet in the qualifying range, credit monitoring tools can help you track the progress that matters most.

For Personal Loans, APR ranges from 5.96% APR to 35.96% APR and origination/processing fee ranges from 0.00% to 8.00% of the loan amount. APRs and origination/processing fees are determined at the time of application. The lowest APR may be available to borrowers with excellent credit, subject to additional factors including, but not limited to, loan amount, loan term, and sufficient investor commitment. Advertised rates and fees are valid as of July 06, 2026, are subject to change without notice, and may not be available for all Personal Loan products and/or through all application channels or platforms.

A representative example of payment terms for a Personal Loan is as follows: a borrower receives a loan of $15,262 for a term of 36 months, with an interest rate of 13.99% and a 6% origination fee of $916, for an APR of 18.40%. In this example, the borrower will receive $14,346 and will make 36 monthly payments of $522. Loan amounts range from $1,000 to $75,000 and loan term lengths range from 24 months to 84 months. Some amounts, rates, and term lengths may be unavailable in certain states, and may not be available for all Personal Loan products and/or through all application channels or platforms.

Credit eligibility is not guaranteed. APR and other credit terms depend upon credit score and other key financing characteristics, including but not limited to the amount financed, loan term length, and credit usage and history.
