How do I resolve issues when entering creditors for balance transfer payments?

less than a minute read

If you're having trouble entering your creditors for your balance transfer payment, we have a few tips that may help get you back on track:

  • Try using a different internet browser. Many of our customers find it easier to use Google Chrome.

  • If you’ve had difficulties using a mobile device,use a desktop computer.

  • Make sure you enter the name of the bank that issues your credit card—not the name on the front of the card.(For example, a "Southwest Airlines" rewards card is issued by Chase Bank. You'd want to enter "Chase"—not "Southwest.")

  • Check that the creditor’s address you enter matches the one on your most recent credit card or loan statement.

  • On the creditor selection page, choose the entry that most closely matches the address your billing statement has under “Mail payments to.” For credit cards, a close match is usually fine, but direct loans often require an exact match.

If you try all those things and still have trouble, feel free to call us at 888-596-3157. We're here Monday through Friday from 5 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm Pacific Time. We’ll be happy to help!

The debt avalanche minimizes total interest paid. The debt snowball gives you quick wins. Which one is right depends on what matters more to you—saving the most in interest, or building the momentum to see it through. If you have several high-interest balances, there’s a third option: debt consolidation with a personal loan.

Your credit score is built from five factors, and the habits that move it fastest map directly onto the most important ones. Paying every bill on time and keeping your card balances low account for 65% of your FICO score combined. The remaining three factors—credit history length, credit mix, and new credit—are the slow-growing part of the garden: they matter, but they build over time rather than through quick, targeted action.

Two people can borrow the exact same amount for the exact same timeline and end up with completely different bills. Why? Because your Annual Percentage Rate (APR)—the true yearly cost of your loan—hinges on things you can actually control. Your credit profile, your debt-to-income (DTI) ratio, your loan term, and the lender you pick all drive your final rate. Here is how to tweak those levers and keep more cash in your pocket.

Getting out of debt starts with a clear picture of what you owe, then a decision about how to tackle it. Two methods—debt snowball and debt avalanche—work with money you already have. If several of your balances carry high APRs, consolidating with a personal loan can lower the interest rate on the debt itself before you start paying it down.

"Bad credit" is a range, not a verdict. A borrower with a credit score of 620 has meaningfully different options than one with a credit score of 520 – and a personal loan from a bank can still be an option for many borrowers in the fair credit range (580–669). Before you decide anything, check your rate in seconds with no impact to your credit score.1,4 If you're not yet in the qualifying range, credit monitoring tools can help you track the progress that matters most.

For Personal Loans, APR ranges from 5.96% APR to 35.96% APR and origination/processing fee ranges from 0.00% to 8.00% of the loan amount. APRs and origination/processing fees are determined at the time of application. The lowest APR may be available to borrowers with excellent credit, subject to additional factors including, but not limited to, loan amount, loan term, and sufficient investor commitment. Advertised rates and fees are valid as of July 06, 2026, are subject to change without notice, and may not be available for all Personal Loan products and/or through all application channels or platforms.

A representative example of payment terms for a Personal Loan is as follows: a borrower receives a loan of $15,262 for a term of 36 months, with an interest rate of 13.99% and a 6% origination fee of $916, for an APR of 18.40%. In this example, the borrower will receive $14,346 and will make 36 monthly payments of $522. Loan amounts range from $1,000 to $75,000 and loan term lengths range from 24 months to 84 months. Some amounts, rates, and term lengths may be unavailable in certain states, and may not be available for all Personal Loan products and/or through all application channels or platforms.

Credit eligibility is not guaranteed. APR and other credit terms depend upon credit score and other key financing characteristics, including but not limited to the amount financed, loan term length, and credit usage and history.
