4 small product tweaks that made a big difference
One of the things we pride ourselves on at Happen is coming up with small tweaks to existing products, which have a big impact on sales.
In the past few years we’ve helped a number of big-name brands do this, using our Asset-Out innovation framework, which harnesses the potential lying dormant in your factories, identifying product features you can produce with little or no investment.
Here are four small product tweaks identified through Asset-Out, that went on to make a big difference to the client.
1. B.O.B Milk
B.O.B Milk is the best of both: skimmed milk that tastes as good as semi-skimmed. It has been named Product of the Year in the milk category and the maker Arla Foods has had to increase production capacity to meet demand.
2. Trident Splash
By using existing manufacturing capability to add a swirly core to Trident gum, a whole new brand was created.
3. V6 Clean
A minor tweak to the panning process for V6 gum, and some technology borrowed from another plant helped create V6 Clean, with a new rough texture and powdered core.
4. Broncho Stop
Omega Pharma wanted to appeal to people who weren’t sure what type of cough they had. Instead of investing in changes in point-of-sale or apps to help people choose, they used their existing production capability to create Broncho Stop, a treatment for all types of coughs.
