Wayne brings a wealth of experience in Marketing, Insight, Design and Retail having spent the past 7 years in senior roles at Marks & Spencer. Prior to his arrival in the UK, he spent 10 years in various senior marketing roles working for some of the word’s largest and most respected organisations, including N.Z. Dairy Foods (Anchor), Saatchi & Saatchi and United Distillers (now Diageo). In these roles, he was responsible for brand strategy, communication, packaging, consumer promotions and NPD.
During his time at M&S Wayne honed his design skills and was instrumental in creating and delivering numerous new hospitality formats as Head of Food & Hospitality Store Design, adding significant value to the category. He was also recognised for two high profile projects winning twice at the Retail Interiors Awards. In his earlier career at M&S he was awarded Marketer of the Year and helped M&S achieve Sandwich Retailer of the year. It was Wayne’s passion for coffee and desire to grow outside of his native New Zealand that originally brought him to the UK as Head of Marketing for the UK’s largest independent coffee roaster. Wayne’s fundamental belief is that building upwards from customer insight is the real key to creating and delivering winning concepts and unique customer experiences.
Wayne has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business from the University of Canterbury, NZ and is a certified Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Outside of work, he enjoys seeking out new food experiences with friends and camping when the British weather permits!
