Another brilliant little six-minute TED Talk video. Tom Wujec describes a team-building contest in which groups of four people are asked to build the tallest free-standing structure possible out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, a yard of tape, a yard of string, and a marshmallow.
Wujec shows how young kids usually build taller and more interesting structures than most adults (MBA grads are particularly bad), because they build a lot of prototypes in the 18 minutes each group is allotted. Most adults on the other hand, are trained to work towards a single 'perfect' solution and spend a lot of time planning and arguing, then have no time to correct their mistakes when the reality doesn't work as planned.
